| | Ana Maria Angel....Her life |
Ana Maria was born in Medellin, Colombia on September 13, 1983. She arrived in Miami, Florida together with her mother Margarita Osorio in 1990. Her education began at Henry Flagler Elementary, then at West Miami Middle School and finally at South Miami Senior High. There she excelled academically as an Honor Roll Student and thriving in history, Spanish, writing and language arts. In sports, she became the captain of the soccer team and a member of the volleyball team. Among others activities, she was an active member of the Future Educators of America Association, where she nurtured her dream of eventually becoming a High School Principal.
Ana Maria lived her short life surrounded by the unconditional love of her mother, wonderful friends and last but not least by her beloved animals. She had a very special mission in saving and caring for stray animals, especially with cats, and was always determined to find them loving homes, including her own by caring for seven of them. She also experienced and acted upon her love of nature by volunteering at Fairchild Tropical Garden, where a beautiful butterfly tree has been planted in her name. At home, she often worked in her little garden and grew beautiful flowers and plants.
Ana Maria besides being a loving and sensitive daughter and great supporter to her always working mom found the time to help financially at home by working after school hours. Her employer was The Paper Emporium where she also expressed her wonderful artistic talent by using her creative hands.
As her high school graduation grew closer in June 2002, Ana Maria enlisted in the U.S. Air Force until 2006, as she prepared to fulfill in future years her dream of being a principal.
Ana Maria left us with this profound thought and message:
"WE CAN'T BECOME WHO WE NEED TO BE BY REMAINING WHO WE ARE".
